Description
54 Kaiser Manhattan 2 door sedan. In 1954 Kaiser offered the Manhattan with a McCulloch VS57 Supercharger. This raised horsepower for the 226 cubic-inch engine from 118 to 140. The zero-to-sixty time went from nearly 18 seconds down to 15. If you've never seen one of these cars before, there's a reason. In 1954, Kaiser hardly made any two-door Manhattans; sources conflict on the exact numbermade, but they all say less than 250. So, do Kaiser kooks hate him for hot-rodding the car with a *big-block Chevy, a 700-R4 trans, a Ford 9-inch rearend, and a second-gen Camaro front clip?* Surprisingly, no. The Manhattan has been honored by the community and is the first hot rod to win the people's choice award two years in a row at the annual Kaiser Frazer Club National Convention. Captured cruising at Good Guys Del Mar Nationals, April 2011. Background: Temecula, CA
